There homemade jam tart it is certainly more genuine and healthy than the one bought in a pastry shop. Its preparation is very simple; it can be filled with your homemade jams, such as strawberry jam. The tart does not require the use of special tools since the shortcrust pastry can be easily kneaded with your hands.

The only recommendation is to prepare the shortcrust pastry in advance and freeze it and then use it if necessary: ​​just defrost it in the refrigerator a couple of hours before use. The traditional version of the homemade jam tart foresees the strips obtained from the cut-outs of pasta to create the typical diamond-shaped decoration. Homemade jam tart, what we need

  • 500 g of jam of any taste
  • 500 g of flour
  • 1 and a half sachet of yeast
  • 3 eggs
  • 150 g of butter
  • 120 g of sugar
  • The grated rind of an untreated lemon

Homemade jam tart, the preparation

  1. Pour the flour on the work surface, make a well in the center and pour the sugar around it
  2. In the hole in the center pour the eggs, a pinch of salt and the butter, which you have previously melted at room temperature
  3. Spread the yeast evenly over the flour, passing it through a sieve
  4. Add the grated lemon
  5. Work the dough with your hands for about ten minutes until it forms a nice firm dough
  6. Wrap it with cling film and put it to rest in the fridge for at least half an hour
  7. Once rested, set aside about a third of the dough: you will need it for the strips
  8. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin forming a sheet half a centimeter high
  9. Roll the dough on a rolling pin and place it inside the greased and floured 30 cm diameter pan, eliminating the excess dough
  10. Pour and spread the jam evenly, leveling it with the back of the spoon
  11. With the remaining dough, roll out a sheet half a centimeter high, then, with the toothed wheel, create 2 cm wide strips
  12. Arrange the strips gently on top of the jam
  13. Finally, brush the strips with egg
  14. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 45 minutes and in any case until it becomes golden
